Ruckus Wireless Technology

The Ruckus Approach to Wireless

Ruckus noticed a lot of the common complaints with wireless technology were that people couldn’t get a signal in the area they wanted, and sometimes even when they did, it was flaky.

Ruckus developed a series of patented technologies to remedy the problems people were experiencing with their Wi-Fi; they called this combination of technologies ‘Smart Wi-Fi’.

The Ruckus ‘Smart Wi-Fi’ portfolio consists of both indoor and outdoor solutions that can operate independently or be managed by the ZoneDirector, or Smartzone controller solution.

Key features of the Ruckus wireless Solution

  • Seamless Interoperability
  • Advanced Wi-Fi Security
  • Massive Scalability
  • Best-in-class Performance
  • Robust WLAN Management

Ruckus ZoneFlex Wireless Access Points

Ruckus ZoneFlex portfolio provides wireless solutions for both the indoor and outdoor environment. The Ruckus ZoneFlex system can be configured in minutes and combines a variety of advanced ‘Smart Wi-Fi’ features including BeamFlex, Channel Fly, State-of-the-art Security, Smart Meshing and many more.

The ZoneFlex Access points are centrally managed through the Ruckus ZoneDirector, or SmartZone outlined below; however, the ZoneFlex series can be deployed as stand-alone devices. This provides the user with a secure robust wireless system that will give you better coverage and fewer APS than the competition. Ruckus also has a line of controller-less Access Points that make up their Unleashed portfolio.

Ruckus ZoneDirector – wireless controller for up to 1,000 wireless APs

The Ruckus Wireless ZoneDirector is Ruckus’ centrally managed Smart Wireless LAN (WLAN) system developed specifically for small-to-medium sized wireless deployments.

With simplicity and ease of use in mind, the Ruckus ZoneDirector is purpose-built to address the gap between standalone, feature-deficient access points (APs) that must be individually managed and the costly, complex high-end enterprise systems that are overkill for most small business environments.

The ZoneDirector is also perfect for organisations who want to offer services such as voice over Wi-Fi, IP-based video and secure enterprise access.

Ruckus SmartZone – wireless controller for up to 30,000 wireless APs

Building or expanding complex multi-site or multi-geo WLANs? Delivering single or multi-tier managed Wi-Fi services? Ruckus make it easy.

The SmartZone wireless LAN controller is available in both appliance and virtual appliance form and will simplify network set-up and management, enhance security, minimise troubleshooting and ease upgrades.

Use SmartZone WLAN controllers to:

  • Overcome scale limitations associated with single, centrally managed WLANs, with support for physical or virtual deployments of up to 30,000 APs and 300,000 clients.
  • Deploy virtual appliances without compromising the scalability, redundancy or performance associated with their physical counterparts.
  • Eliminate the need for separate mobility controllers or DHCP servers.
  • Reduce the risk associated with shared compute and storage by supporting containerized, multi-tenant domains.
  • Visually troubleshoot and quickly pinpoint client connection issues.
  • Easily deliver all client, AP, WLAN and controller statistics and key performance indicators to third party analytics platforms.

Ruckus Wired ICX Technology

Wi-Fi has a voracious appetite. People, devices and bandwidth—the demand for Wi-Fi resources is always for more, more, more.

Will this consumption mean disruption and cost?

Will you have to replace access points (APs) and switches more frequently?

Or, instead, delay adoption of new resources until you can afford an equipment overhaul?

No to both—replacing or delaying. Instead, deploy Ruckus wired and wireless solutions designed to work together. That means more than simple compatibility. It means switches and APs that optimise each other and future-proof your investment: Single pane-of-glass management of switches and APs. 802.11ac Wave 2 and 802.11ax 2.5GbE support on APs and switches. Up to 90W of PoE per switch port to power APs. Uplinks up to 100 Gbps (increase port speeds through software, to provision what you need as you need it).

Ruckus innovates across wired technologies, as well as wireless, to enable great customer experiences. The Ruckus ICX Family of fixed form-factor switches work together to simplify network set-up and management, enhance security, minimise troubleshooting and make upgrades easy. Their low-latency, non-blocking architecture ensures excellent throughput for the most demanding applications

ICX switches work seamlessly with Ruckus Wi-Fi access points and Ruckus SmartZone network controllers to deliver the most performant and cost-effective unified wired & wireless access solutions on the market today.

Whether you’re deploying a standalone switch, a stack, or a fabric network, you’ll reap the benefits of Ruckus performance, flexibility and investment protection.
