ASSA ABLOY integration: Verkada integrates with global leader in access solutions

To make it easier to adopt Verkada’s Access Control solution without having to rewire doors, we are pleased to expand on our network of wireless lock integrations and announce our partnership with ASSA ABLOY, a global leader in access solutions.

This partnership covers an integration with the Aperio lineup of wireless locks. Aperio is a global wireless platform that includes extensive locking hardware options, offering the flexibility to address a variety of applications throughout any facility. The platform uses wireless communication (IEEE 802.15.4) between the lock and an Aperio hub to provide real-time communication to the access control system, simplifying installation and reducing costs. The Aperio lineup of integrated door locks, electric strikes, deadlatch locks and cabinet locks extends the capabilities of Verkada’s lineup of door controllers.

Every lock in the ASSA ABLOY Aperio lineup connects wirelessly to the RS485 Hub, which connects directly to a Verkada door controller and can be managed through Verkada Command. Each AC42 controller can access control up to 16 locks.

Similar to other wireless lock integrations, Verkada’s ASSA ABLOY integration provides real-time connectivity, allowing customers to see door events and take action immediately. Customers can also intuitively manage their ASSA ABLOY locks through Verkada Command by adjusting door schedules, permissioning users and access groups, and monitoring the battery power of their wireless locks.

Announcing Verkada encrypted credentials

We are launching Verkada encrypted credentials, which are a new access card SKU that offers AES128-bit encryption that adheres to the DesFire Ev3 global card security standard. Verkada encrypted credentials make it more difficult for bad actors to steal, bypass, or impersonate user credentials.

Verkada access control customers can purchase Verkada encrypted credentials through our new DesFire Ev3 cards. Customers can utilize these credentials on any existing AD31, AD32 or AD33 readers or compatible Schlage or ASSA ABLOY wireless locks.

Introducing our next generation 4 door controller

We are launching the AC42, which builds on the capabilities of the AC41 by adding support for Fire Alarm Interface (FAI) integrations and support for two request-to-exit devices.

With FAI support, the AC42 can power down door locks when receiving a signal from a Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP). This functionality matches the functionality of our popular AC62 16-door controller. The AC42 also includes an additional auxiliary port and double request-to-exit (REX) support. With added REX support, organizations can have REX devices on each side of a door. And with a second AUX port, organizations can connect the controller to even more peripherals and devices like door position indicators, lockdown buttons, and motion sensors.

The AC42 door controller is available for customer purchase at the same price as the AC41 door controller: $1,799.

Sites and sub-sites

To give organizations even more tools to monitor their buildings, Verkada Access Control now supports sub-sites within Verkada Command. Like Alarms, Cameras and other Verkada products, organizations can enable Access Control sub-sites when adding a door to Verkada Command. This capability makes it easier for customers to manage large global deployments from a single cloud-based solution.
